Letter To Parents

Thank you for choosing Open Arms Christian Child Development Center to care for and nurture your child. Our goal is to serve the families of our community with the highest quality Christian early education, while providing a safe and loving environment for your child while you are at work.  Here at Open Arms, we recognize parents as the primary providers of care and nurturing. We partner with parents for the overall growth and development of your child.

Our program has been developed to meet the needs of children 6 weeks to 12 years. The program provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child’s spiritual, cognitive, language, social, emotional, and physical development. Within their daily schedules, each child has opportunities to create, explore the environment, learn problem solving and personal interaction skills, and learn concepts through first hand experiences. We believe that play is the primary learning mode. Children develop a positive self-concept through a balance of self-directed and teacher-directed activities. Opportunities for solitary play as well as group activities are provided. Staff members serve as positive role models and provide care that is supportive, nurturing, warm, and responsive to each child’s individual needs. Children are reminded daily that they are special creations of God, and learn more about him through weekly bible verses and stories, praying before mealtimes, and Chapel with Pastor on Thursdays.

Parents are encouraged to visit and volunteer whenever possible, and special family events will be planned throughout the year at the Center. Events such as Mother’s Day Breakfast, Easter Egg Hunt, Week of the Young Child, Christmas Program, and many, many more, all celebrate the families who attend Open Arms and get parents involved! Information about events will be posted throughout the Center, on our website and our social media. Our teachers and administration staff stay connected to parents through many different channels. Posted outside of each classroom door is the classroom’s daily schedule, weekly lesson plans, and monthly menu. In the entryway of the Center, each family has their own communication folder. Here, the office will leave memos, newsletters, or forms, and teachers may leave artwork for you to grab on your way out. Our website contains a blog with relevant information that is kept up to date about goings on in the Center, events, or useful information. There is also a Health Updates and Tips page on our website where we will post reported cases of illness in specific classrooms.  “Like”ing our facebook page will allow our updates and statuses to appear right on your newsfeed, keeping you connected through social media. We also maintain a Shutterfly site that is password protected with pictures of events, day to day activities, and lots of fun in between! You will receive an invite to this website shortly after starting at Open Arms. The office also puts out a monthly Newsletter, which is another great way to stay informed. Staying connected with our parents and getting them involved is a priority for us and we work very hard to keep current and relevant!

Please be sure to read your Parent Handbook to familiarize yourself with our policies and procedures. Also make sure that we have all of the necessary paperwork from you before your child begins at Open Arms, including the Enrollment Application, Free and Reduced Food Form, and up-to-date Immunization Records. Your first week of tuition and registration is due the week before you start, or at the latest, the first day. This may be dropped off in the tuition box next to the front office window.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. We look forward to having you and your child join the Open Arms family.
